Ashley’s Story from

Burnout to Breakthrough

I grew up on a farm, raised by a hardworking, self-made father. I was taught that rest was lazy, and productivity was the only way forward. That “go, go, go” mindset became my norm — from PT school to running my own clinic full time. As a Type-A perfectionist, I wore hustle like a badge of honor.

Then came my breaking point: two babies back-to-back (Irish twins), no recovery plan, and a body that finally said “enough.” I couldn’t get out of bed — literally. My stress bucket had overflowed, and for the first time in my life, pushing through wasn’t an option. I took a leave from work, hit rock bottom, and began a healing journey I never saw coming.

What shocked me? So many women around me — patients and friends — were silently struggling too: with hormone imbalances, gut issues, brain fog, fatigue, and relentless stress. That’s why we created Your Thrive Code — an online course designed to help women break the burnout cycle and transition into menopause with strength and grace.

I’m beyond honored to co-create this program with Dr. Basima Williams, whose functional medicine expertise helped transform my hormones, my gut, and my entire health journey.
Now we help other women do the same — not by pushing harder, but by learning to pause, listen to the body, breathe, and truly thrive.

Basima’s Story

“I Thought I Had the Answers Until My Own Health Woke Me Up.”

As a functional medicine doctor, I’ve spent years helping women navigate hormone imbalances, digestive issues, and chronic fatigue. I knew the protocols. I taught the frameworks. I thought I had it all figured out.
Then COVID hit—and everything changed.

My routines disappeared overnight. Church, social connection, gym time, even a peaceful moment with a book and coffee—all gone. In their place? Teenagers learning from home, a practice in transition, and a mounting sense of overwhelm.
Like so many of the women I work with, I fell into survival mode. I reached for comfort foods, ignored the signals from my body, and pushed through the exhaustion—until I couldn’t anymore.
That’s when I realized I wasn’t exempt from the very imbalances I helped others heal. My hormones were shifting. My gut was off. My energy was depleted. I was gaining weight, snapping over small things, and feeling disconnected from myself.
I finally listened.

I stopped pretending everything was fine and turned inward. I used the same functional medicine approach I give my patients—targeting hormone health, nervous system regulation, and gut restoration. Slowly, I came back to life.

Today, I feel stronger, clearer, and more aligned than ever.
And I’ve never been more passionate about helping other women do the same. Because when we address the root causes—especially in our hormones and gut—true healing happens. And from that place, we don’t just survive… we thrive.
